Bring the Olympia home to the San Francisco Bay Area

Donor List Under Construction

Only You Can Save the OLYMPIA and Bring her back home to the San Francisco Bay Area.

Our goal is to raise the funds necessary to repair and save the Olympia by bringing her to the San Francisco Bay Area for display.  Initially $200K is necessary to conduct a feasibility study to evaluate Bay Area locations.  This study will be used to refine the estimates required to conduct hull repairs, tow her and prepare a site here in the Bay Area which are currently estimated at $15M.  Previous studies have indicated that these up front costs cannot be absorbed by revenues, they must be paid out of donations or the ship will be scrapped.

Contributions should be designated “Olympia Fund” and be mailed to the Navy Yard Association of Mare Island at the following address.  Also please indicate whether or not you would like your name list on this donor web page:

Lloyd Mahan
Treasurer
Navy Yard Association of Mare Island
19101 Ridgeway Hwy.
Potter Valley, CA 95469

Please note that Navy Yard Association of Mare Island is not a 501(c)(3) organization and; therefore, donations to the Navy Yard Association are not tax deductable.  The Navy Yard Association is currently in discussions with an association which does have 501(c)(3) status in an effort to provide an opportunity for donations to be tax deductable and I will keep you informed on the outcome of those discussions.

All money received by the Navy Yard Association for deposit in the “Olympia Fund” will be utilized to repair the Olympia and bring her home to the San Francisco Bay Area to be put on display (if we should fail in this effort, funds will either be donated to other efforts to save the Olympia or used to bring Olympia artifacts to the Bay Area for display).
